The English Premier League soccer clubs discussed on Friday several possible options for completing the current season, but did not specify a date for the resumption of matches in light of the continued isolation measures applied by the British government.

A spokesman for the Premier League said: The meeting of all parties concerned today was an opportunity to discuss possible options for the resumption of the season. Like other commercial and industrial activities, the League and Clubs operate through sophisticated plans and scenarios, we exchange views intensively with all interested parties including broadcasting partners and our aim is to ensure that we are in a position to resume playing when the situation is safe and with the full support of the government.

He added: The health and safety of players, coaches, managers, technical equipment, workers and fans is a priority for us and the league will resume when medical guidelines allow this.

The meeting did not discuss possible damages that may result from the continuation of the season beyond June 30, the date of the end of contracts for some players and coaches.

The FIFA announced that the contracts should be modified to align with the actual date of the end of the season, however, this issue can be reviewed in accordance with English law.

The Association of Football Clubs in England, which represents the lowest three levels of the Premier League, said that clubs cannot return to training again before at least May 16.
