Six Barcelona FC board members resigned after telling club president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, that they are dissatisfied with the management style.
In a joint message, the six expressed their concern about the potential financial implications for the team due to the emerging Coronavirus crisis.
They also criticized the handling of the scandal that arose in February when the club was forced to deny the use of a company to attack its players on social media.
They also called for elections to choose a new president for the club.
Among these six members are two of the club's four vice-presidents: Emily Rosewood and Enrique Tompas. The other four are: Silvio Elias, Josep Pont, Jordi Calcamiglia and Maria Taeksidor.
And the message of the six said: We reached this stage because we were unable to change the way the club is managed, especially in light of important challenges facing it in the future, most notably the post-epidemic stage.
We would also like to express our dissatisfaction with the unfortunate episode related to social media accounts known as 'Parsa Gate' and which we learned about from the press.
The letter also said: As our last services to the club, we recommend that elections be held as soon as conditions permit, in order for the club to be run in the best possible way and deal with important challenges in the near future.
In response to this collective resignation, FC Barcelona said it came within the framework of the reorganization of the Board of Directors put forward by Bartomeu, which will end in the next few days.
The club said in a statement that the reorganization was planned to push with the necessary measures to prepare for the club's future, to overcome the consequences of the public health crisis that currently hangs over us, and to end the management program.
The club also denied serious and baseless charges regarding the club's administration, which Rosewood had told Spanish media, noting that he reserves the right to take any legal action.
During the period of the Coruna epidemic, 70 percent of the wages of Barcelona players who will provide additional assistance to ensure that non-athletic employees at the club are paid their full salaries will be deducted.
Board members, and most basketball team players, also agreed to cut their salaries.
